Fourth Saturday Contra DanceWelcome students as well as other new and experienced dancers of all ages. All dances are taught and prompted to live music. The dances are on the fourth Saturdays of the months September through May from 8pm to 11pm with a beginner's session at 7:30pm. Admission is $9; $8 for AACTMAD members; and $5 for students. The dances are held at Concourse Hall, off State Street, one mile south of I-94 exit 177, across from the Ann Arbor Airport 4531 Concourse Drive, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Check the calendar for details of upcoming events. Info: First-time dancers: Please come early for the beginner's session at 7:30pm. Come alone or bring a friend. Anyone can ask anyone else to dance; experienced dancers are happy to help new people. It's a common practice to change partners after each dance sequence, and it works well while you're learning the basics; after that, it's up to you. Wear cool, comfortable clothes and flat shoes that aren't sticky. Callers: The Fourth-Saturday dance now has an open microphone format. Whether you're local or from out of town, you're welcome to come and call. The number of dances you call will depend on the number of callers we have that night. Be prepared with a variety of dances appropriate for the crowd and the stage in the program. New callers are welcome, but if it's your first time, please contact in advance of the dance. |
