How to work with Let's Dance!

  • Choose a date (at least 2 months ahead to make arrangements and get publicity out)
  • Arrange for a location (wood floor is great, but not required)
  • Complete a brief info sheet (PDF - 1 page) to help us plan your program
  • Publicize your event through your group's networks
  • Get ready to have a great time!

Fees

Fees depend on the event's length, number of musicians, and technical needs. AACTMAD may provide some limited financial support.

Music and dance residencies

Music and dance residencies bring one-of-a-kind performers into your school, after-school, or church program for educational enrichment and team building. Goals may include:

  • Music enrichment through movement
  • Learning social history
  • Creating and performing songs and stories

In addition to the topics covered, students gain experience in collaboration, tolerance, and giving and receiving feedback. You tell us the schedule and the goals, and we'll arrange for the right leaders.

Residency info sheet (PDF - 1 page)

"The leader of our residency took us on a dance trip back a hundred years or so. His costumes, songs, and stories set a mood that made history feel like a party. What a wonderful way to learn about the past!"
Martha McDowell, Teacher, Rudolf Steiner School
"The residency program gives the students confidence in their presentation skills. Performing for an audience is something the youngsters will benefit from and remember for a long time to come, and that makes it especially valuable."
Carol Mohrlock, Teacher, Ann Arbor public schools

"I love to play music for family dances. I love seeing the dancers enjoying themselves. The only thing I don't love about it is that when I'm playing, I can't dance!"
