New Dancer ProgramAnn Arbor is one of the prominent centers of traditional music and dance in the country. The Ann Arbor Community for Traditional Music and Dance, affectionately known as AACTMAD, welcomes new dancers to attend the multitude of dances available. Unless the dance is explicitely designated "advanced", beginners are always welcome. This fall, AACTMAD is offering a special incentive to encourage more people to enjoy the traditional dances we offer. We are offering coupons for new dancers to attend their first three dances with $4 off the admission price. So if you are new to contra dance, swing dance, square dance, English country dance, Scandinavian dance (junior high gym classes do not count), print out a coupon and join us. Come alone or bring a carload of friends. Your life will be enriched. Here are some details about the dance series that are paricipating in the New Dancer Program. - Every Friday: beginner lesson 8pm to 9pm, open dancing from 9pm to 12am.
- Bring a clean pair of shoes to change into for dancing.

- English Country Dance
- Every Tuesday: 7pm to 9:30pm.
- Arrive 10 minutes early for an informal orientation to English country dancing.
- Wear comfortable clothes and flat, flexible-soled shoes with a little grip.
- Adults $7, students $4 ($3 and $0 with New Dancer Coupon).
- Chapel Hill Condominium Clubhouse, located at 3350 Green Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
- First Saturday Contra Dance
- First Saturdays, year round: 8pm to 11pm.
- Arrive early to meet the dancers and get oriented.
- Wear cool, comfortable clothes and flat shoes that aren't sticky.
- General admission $9, students $5 ($5, $1 with New Dancer coupon).
- Pittsfield Grange Hall, located at 3337 Ann Arbor-Saline Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
- Fourth Saturday English and Contra Dance
- Fourth Saturdays (except December and February): 8pm to 11pm.
- Arrive early to meet the dancers and get oriented.
- Wear clothes comfortable for dancing, and bring a pair of clean, non-marking shoes.
- Admission $10 ($6 with New Dancer coupon).

- Old-Time Square Dance
- Arrive early to meet the dancers and get oriented.
- First or Second Sundays, September through June: 2pm to 5pm
- Wear clothes comfortable for dancing, and bring a pair of clean, non-marking shoes.

- Scandinavian Dance
- Fourth Saturdays, September through November and January through April: 5pm to 7pm.
- Teaching followed by general dancing.
- Wear casual clothes and bring flat shoes with smooth, hard soles.
- General admission $5, students $3 ($1 and $0 with New Dancer Coupon).

- Special Events
- Fifth-Saturday Weekend events typically include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday dance and workshop sessions.
- Other special dance and music activities and dance community gatherings are presented during the year.
